While visiting different (vocational) colleges, companies and cultural sights in Finland participants will improve intercultural knowledge about culture and education. Our main focus will be on entrepreneurship, thus vocational teachers or those dealing with further education might be specially interested. Other interested teachers are invited to participate as well. Additionally we will try to give ideas about establishing projects and classroom tools.

 

Objectives:

 

- Experience different places of interest in e.g. Oulu, Oulainen, Nivala, Rovaniemi

 

- Examine different teaching methods and classroom tools

 

- Learn about vocational education

 

- Learn about European projects and project management, e.g. etwinning

 

 

Languages: English and German

 

 

 

The final programme with information about accommodation and places to be visited depends on the number of participants and will be published to registered participants at least 1 month before departure. Bus or equivalent transport facilities will be provided after day 1.

 

Course fee: 7 x € 80 = € 560

 

+ € 30 for administration, cost-field projects/tickets/cultural activities (can be paid out of organisational support)

 

+ accommodation, twin-bedded, organized by Teachers on the Move, ca. € 144 per person/ day.

TEAchers on the Move rents a bus for the whole week and offers accommodation in hotel or hostel for the whole group.

Sunday - First meetings in Oulu, getting to know each other and joint journey

 16:00/17:00  to Oulainen - organisational matters

    - 22:00      (Accommodation in Oulainen organised by the course organiser)

                        - Objectives and expected learning outcomes, exchange

 

                        - Getting to know each other using different methods and

                          Tools; Assignments: e.g. Pictures of the Day; Presentation of Course Padlet

                        - Dinner and socialising together

 

 

Monday        - School visit in connection with presentations by participants

 9:00             - Discussions with learners and teachers,

 - 17:00         - workshop (use of digital tools and related methods)

 

 with 2-hour lunch and coffee break

 

Tuesday - School/classroom visits and discussion of lessons

 9:00             - Comparison of teaching methods and

 - 17:00         - Use of digital tools and apps

                     - Workshop on eTwinning, international projects and on 

                          collaborative work/project work

Wednesday   - School visit and workshop on intercultural learning

Friday            - Excursion to Rovaniemi     

7:00               - with tasks on the theme: 'Santa Clause Village from a Business

                            Perspective'.

- 17:00           - intercultural learning at the Arktik Museum - methods for all subjects and

                         school types with ideas for implementation by course provider and

                         by the course participants on the topic: 'Museum as a place for learning'

                         (museum education). 

                         

                         - Onward journey to Oulu (overnight stay in hotel)

 

Saturday          - Collaboration (space for discussion on collaboration and networking)

 7:30                  and networking, e.g. school partnerships, eTwinning etc.)
